When you can’t breath, Nothing else matter.

Sunday morning, I was shocked by a surprisingly bad news that my cousin “ah B” (same age with me) suddenly passed away after he drink more than his body could handle. We used to grow up together until I changed to another high school after form 3. The first thing in my mind is “Life is so vulnerable.” Or is it we have taken our youth and health for granted?

Later I found out that, ah B never have medical check up or blood test all these years, and he never took vegetables. After the death cause investigation, they found out that the blood stream was clog by cholesterol, and perhaps the heart failure is due to lack of blood flow or oxygen to the heart.

Although we are young, please don’t take our body for granted. Please protect our body and stop smoking and drink less. Cause, nothing else really matter when you stop breathing, and your heart stop working. We have to exercise more, and take care of our diet, as to identify which food is good for our body and which food is not. We have to somehow stop longing for the delicious taste, cause most delicious food is not healthy... ;)

Truths For Living

Recently, I'm having an adventurous ride on my options trading account when the crude oil stock ride up and down with crude oil future prices. I feel really glad that Dr. Clemen Chiang has provide us a forum and interact with other more advance graduates and learn from them. I really learn a lot from Master Dzul, and currently my account grow to $7k finally. Just like that S&P 500 and Nasdaq Index, it's a new HIGH !!! However, it still some distance away from my goal of $9.7k by end of November. Perhaps it needs miracle to bring me there.

Anyway, Master Dzul is as inspiring as always, he had shared with us the Truth of Living by William Arthur Ward.

The more generous we are,
the more joyous we become.

The more cooperative we are,
the more valuable we become.

The more enthusiastic we are,
the more productive we become.

The more serving we are,
the more prosperous we become.

The more outgoing we are,
the more helpful we become.

The more curious we are,
the more creative we become.

The more patient we are,
the more understanding we become.

The more persistent we are,
the more successful we become.

May all of us learn from it, apply it, harvest the fruit from it, and pass it on... this perhaps is the "missing link" to get us to live to the fullest of our lives.

What should we do in our life?

Recently, I still continue watching the series “Healing Hands 3”, as usual the emotion will be up and down following the story as the series is about Doctors’ life and how they handle their emotions and thought towards patient attitude towards life when they are in Emergency Room.

Therefore, these have easily triggered a lot of questions regarding life in my mind. What is our life all about? What should we do in our life to make it worth while? To most of us, perhaps life can be as simple as, go to school, get good grade, get a good job, got a girl friend or boy friend, and get marry. And then, create a family, have children, and the cycle go on and on…

On recent series, there is a girl name Betsy, her father has the perfect image in her. And this has guided her choice to choose to be a doctor someday, just likes her father. Of course, with this kind of spirit, she has successfully become a doctor. But, one day, she found out that, the perfect image about her father is not real. She become very disappointed and sad. Then, she started to give up her career as a doctor.

This has guide me to think that, perhaps what we should do in our life is to leave some positive spirit for people after us to follow so that the world can be a little happier and with more hope. People survive with hopes… like the patience in the hospital.

Perhaps a simple story or act can provide hopes and happiness to ourselves and also leave so references to our future generation. A simple story or spirit could be how we have failed sometimes, and how we have reorganized ourselves and fight back. Just like what Ralph Emerson have said, “Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up everytime we fail”.

Sometimes, when I felt lost, I’ll be searching for those powerful spirits that have provided by the great person before us. Perhaps the most powerful and meaningful moment of our life will the great legacy for our future generation.

Heart Burn? Here the cause....

Recently, I listen to a radio program that explain our digestion process. Before this, I attended Anthony Robbins seminar and there is a part of the program that say we spend 80% of our energy to digest food if we follow our regular diet. This explains why most of us are so sleepy or tire after our lunch or dinner. At first, I don't quite understand the digestion process, after the doctor explanation, everything seems clear.

Let's use "Chicken Rice" for example. Our favorite dishes for lunch or dinner. For me, I feel extremely tired and sleepy after eating chicken rice. The real cause behind is that we cannot eat rice and meat together as this will load up our digestion process.

This is due to the science of digestion. To digest the rice, it takes place in our mouth and intestine, and it required a alkaline environment. However, to digest the meat (high complex protein food) it take place in our stomach, and require high acid to break down the complex protein structure.

Here the catch, when we eat rice and meat together, and chew it all mix up together, first our mouth saliva will start to digest the rice (carbohydrate food) and make the mixture of food to become alkaline in order to digest the rice component. When the mixture arrive our stomach, it will require lots of acid to digest the meat component since the mixture is in alkaline environment. This process to make the mixture acidic will burn our body energy a lot since it need twice or more acid to transform the mixture from alkaline to acidic.

It will take more than 3 times the energy and time to digest the meat in the mixture compare to just meat alone. When the meat is digested, the rice component will start to turn bad and smelly and become toxic to our body.

Then it come to the intestine. Intestine again has to make extra effort turn the mixture into alkaline condition to break down the rice component which has already turn bad and get it out of our body.

Finally, all we get is the minor nutritions but whole lot of extra works to clear the toxic out of our body. That's the price we pay for the delicious chicken rice... ;)

The Doctor suggest that, if possible we do not need the protein from the meat since that consider complex protein. And, if really wanted to eat meat, please do not mixed with carbonhydrate food like rice, mee, or mee hon. Just meat alone and some vegetables will be very kind to our body.

As for protein requirement, vegetable has enough protein for our daily needs since we don't need much of protein.

So, having heart burn? Stop eating meat, especially do not mixed with bread, rice , or mee.... don't believe me, try it out !!! You'll definitely feel the difference. Stop poisoning your body, as you need to energy to do something more meaningful.....;)

Lost ? Value Life ? Hope? Reborn...

It's quite a while since my last blog. My emotion is kind of up and down with the series I'm watching "Healing Hands III" and also the US stock market up and down of the position I'm in. Perhaps it's will be wise to get out of the position since "High emotion, Low intelligence"......

In "Healing Hands III", it provides some great insights about life. It shows us what's most important when other really doesn't matter anymore when the one we love are in the Emergency Room fighting to be "Reborn". Then, we started to wonder why something only can be noticed when it has gone, and we didn't realise it's there all the time.

I like what's Henry said when he was asked why he wanted to be Doctor. He answered, "To give hope, to give second chance for those to be reborn, and hopefully the patients and help themselves to start over again."

He also mentioned that "I can help them to cure their body, but not their soul. They have to learn from the experience and help themselves to climb up again."

Our greatest Glory is not in never failing, but in rising up everytime we fail" - Ralph Emerson.

Bruce Lee’s Letter on Goal Setting

Bruce Lee, arguably the greatest martial artist to have ever lived, also understood the power of declaring a goal. If you ever get a chance to visit Planet Hollywood in New York City, look for the letter hanging on the wall that Bruce Lee wrote to himself. It is dated January 9, 1970, and it is stamped “Secret.” Bruce wrote, “By 1980 I will be the best known Oriental movie star in the United States and will have secured $10 million dollars… And in return I will give the very best acting I could possibly give every single time I am in front of the camera and I will live in peace and harmony.”

Bruce made three films, and then in 1973 filmed Enter the Dragon, which was released the same year after his untimely death at age 33. The movie was a huge success and achieved worldwide fame for Bruce Lee. And, of course the spirit and wisdom of martial art has spread through him to benefit us today.

Unleash the Power of Goal-Settting

If you are bored with life,
if you don’t get up every morning with a burning desire to do things
, you don’t have enough goals.

–Lou Holtz,

I am in the progress reading the book “The Successful Principles” written by Jack Canfield. Some of the ideas he present are very similar to what I have read in other books, however, when presented by different author in different ways, it brings different feeling and have different impact to myself. After all, “Repetition is the Power”, I might not be successful first time I’m reading the book and encounter the concept, by reading how different people using the same principle differently and achieve their success, I will reinforce the concept into myself and create a way to make myself successful using the same principles.

Now, I’m at the chapter of Unleash the Power of Goal Setting. We must have a clear goal that contain “How much and When?” The first Goal I have set for myself right at this moment, “I am so happy to grow my trading account to $9700 by November 30, 2005.” Before this Chapter, Jack has introduced 2 chapters on “Believe It’s possible” and “Believe in yourself”. He said this action of setting goals with clarity and detail will put us into 3% of the achiever.

To move into the top 1% of achievers, all we have to do is write down some specific action steps that will help us accomplish our goals on our daily to-do list. Then make sure we take those actions.

Use visualization to create a scene in our mind imagining as if we have achieve the goal and feel how it feels like. This will jump start our cells in the body since our subconscious mind couldn’t different image from real and imaginative one.

The Past Does Not Equal to the Future

Yesterday, I watched a series called “Healing Hands 3” and found that are one concept which is really true. In the story, Henry told Paul that “When I was learning how to drive, the instructor taught me that I cannot keep looking at the rear mirror; I must focus in looking forward and drive to the destination I wanted, else I’ll lose focus and hit into something and get car accident.” Henry used this to imply to Paul that our life is the same; our life is about looking forward and not keeps looking at our past. The past has made us what we are today; however, what we will be in the future depends on what the choices or decision we have made today. To achieve more or be more, we have to change more and do more. If we keep doing the same thing over and over again, and expect a different result, it is considered “insane” in some of the book I have read.

Perhaps, it is really important for us to know where we are now, and where we wanted to go. More importantly, we need to know WHY we wanted to go there (Our Goal). If we are clear on these, it will be a matter or time and method for us to reach our Goal… ;)

My Ultimate Goal...

A while ago, I was being asked "Do you think the gathering wealth is your goal of life?" by a reader of my blog called jarjar. My answer to that was, "Gathering wealth perhaps is just one of the process I need to go through in order to "fuel" my 'Dream' Project and then my Ultimate Goal.

You might asked, "What is my Ultimate Goal?" That's what jarjar asked too. This is really a Great Question! As sometimes I have think about it, but never put it in a structure way and explain to anybody. Perhaps my Big Dream would be to rediscover the wisdoms of life, and help to share and spread the wisdom all over the world to inspire and empower us to live a happy and joyful life.

All these while, I am having a thought that most of the wisdom from the past has been hidden or lost across time when our start focusing on knowledge and material development in the capitalism community. I’m not saying that capitalism is not good, it just that we need first focus on develop on our wisdom of life before we can be really successful and happy in the capitalism community. When we have the wisdom, we wouldn’t allow pollution to happen; we wouldn’t trade in our health and family bonding for money, career, etc. We can have all we want without sacrificing our environment, our family, our relationship with others when we have the wisdom to create a loving and productive community where everyone live in a harmonious way.

My Ultimate Goal is to make wisdom seeking the priority then knowledge seeking. To achieve, I need to introduce some self discovery courses into our education system. Besides, I can also develop a new type of school or college that make the whole wisdom discovery process the priority to knowledge. With better wisdom, capitalism can be developed in a healthier way.

Before I achieve my Ultimate Goal, at this moment that first action plan for me is to gather and learn as much self discovery and wisdom as possible, and share them in my blog to benefit my blog reader who has the chance to read my sharing. Perhaps, also to attract people with the same thought to work together and make things happen easier. Hope to hear from you soon…

A Warning … Reminder of my Journey

Few days ago, I gone through the FREE audio program provided by Jon Gordon, a tele-seminar with Jack Canfield as a guess speaker. Take down some points of the seminar like, Life is about discovering dots and connecting the dots, Training without coaching is just Entertaining, E + R = O (Event + Response = Outcome), etc.

Then I discover the important notes of wisdom I jotted down above all come from his book, “The Success Principles – How to Ger from Where you are to Where you want to be.” After browsing through and reading a few chapters in MPH bookstore, I decided to add it into my library.

Today, I start to read the introductory chapter and I found a section called “A Warning”, after reading it, I feel that it is really appealing to me and feel the resonance effect of the words. It seems like Jack Canfield is there watching me all this while. Below is the section I would like to share it here… A Warning

*******************

Of course, any change requires sustained effort to overcome years’ worth of internal and external resistance. Initially you may find yourself getting very excited about all this new information. You may feel a newfound sense of hope and enthusiasm for the new vision of your life as it can be. This is good. But for forewarned that you may also begin to experience other feelings as well. You may feel frustration at not knowing about all of this earlier, anger at your parent and teachers for not teaching you these important concepts at home and at school, or anger at yourself for having already learned many of these things and not having acted on them.

Just take a deep breath and realize that this is all part of the process of your journey. Everything in the past has actually been perfect. Everything in your past has led you to this transformative moment in time. Everyone, including you, has always done the best they could with what they knew at the time. Now you are about to know more. Celebrate your new awareness! It is about to set you free.

You may also that there will be times when you wonder, Why isn’t all of this working faster? Why haven’t I already achieved my goal? Why aren’t I rich already? Why don’t I have the man or woman of my dreams by no? When am I going to achieve my ideal weight? Success takes time, effort, perseverance, and patience. If you apply all of the principles and techniques covered in this book you will achieve your goals. You will realize your dreams. But it won’t happen overnight.

It’s natural in the achievement of any goal to come upon obstacles, to feel temporarily stuck on a plateau. This is normal. Anyone who has ever played a musical instrument, participated in a sport, or practiced a martial art knows that you hit plateaus where it seems as if you are making no progress whatsoever. That’s when the uninitiated often quit, give up, drop out, or take up another instrument or sport. But the wise have discovered if they just keep practicing their instrument, sport, or martial art (or, in your case, the success principles book), eventually they make what feels like a sudden leap to a higher level of proficiency. Be patient. Hang in there. Don’t give up. You will break through. The principles always works.

Making Positive Changes

It's Tuesday Morning and it's Public holiday here. It's Deepavali !!! Happy Deepavali to All... It's another new week, and I read another great weekly newsletter from Jon Gordon. Below is the content from the newsletter and hope you guys enjoy and "Feel Alive" !!! It's so great to be Alive and feeling excellent each morning when we get up.. ;)

*******************
First came the news that Rosa Parks had died and so we honor the life of a woman who changed the course of American history by simply saying, “No, I will no go to the back of the bus.” Then came a call from my Mom and Dad who live in a condo in south Florida that was devastated by hurricane Wilma. They got together with a few neighbors and gathered all the food from their freezers and barbequed all they could. Then they knocked on every door in their 9 story building offering food to all the elderly people who had no food, no water, and no physical capacity to walk down the stairs. Since the power was out and the elevators did not work many of these elderly folks were trapped, scared, hungry and depressed. When my Mom and her friends appeared with food and a smile, many of the elderly people just broke down with tears of joy. And a few hours a later, a few of the elderly folks who could walk, showed up with more frozen food to barbeque to feed even more people. Together, this group of neighbors fed the hungry stomachs, hearts and souls in more ways than one.

These events demonstrate that no act is too small or insignificant to make a positive change. In fact they confirm what I have always believed; that life is all about the little things. Moments that may seem insignificant at the time turn out to be major turning points when we look back. Football games are often decided by a few inches. Healthy marriages hinge on just having several positive interactions each day and minimizing negative interactions (more about this in a future newsletter). Life is the result of all our choices and actions we make and take each moment.

But here’s the key. We have to take action. If Rosa Parks didn’t say “No,” who knows when the civil rights movement would have started? Too many people think that their actions have to be big, profound, complicated, extensive, expensive and so they wait until the right conditions, the right temperature, the perfect moment and in waiting they don’t take any action at all. The right moment never comes, no action is taken, and no change is made. Life, nature, the universe, and our planet are always changing. Change is created through us. But we have to allow ourselves to be agents of change by taking action.

It seems that all the catastrophic events around the world are serving as a gigantic alarm clock that is definitely buzzing and telling us to WAKE UP and get going. And after each tragic event with images of suffering on the television sets, for a brief time period many of us do wake up but then it seems we hit the snooze button and go back into our slumber and fog. We get so caught up in credit card debt, bills, fear perpetuated on the news and our busy technology fueled world that we just want to go back to sleep or live in a trance in front of the television set.

I believe everyone wants to change the world but too many of us say, “Can we do it after “Extreme Home Makeovers.” I know this newsletter is deep but I feel called to say, “Listen to the alarm, WAKE UP and take action.” Instead of watching people makeover other peoples’ lives, become the person who does the making over. WAKE UP and just take one small, simple action today that will make you feel alive. WAKE UP and be the change you wish to see in the world as Gandhi suggests. Don’t hit life’s snooze button. WAKE UP and don’t forget the images you have seen on TV. Instead of letting them serve as a sleeping pill, making you want to sleep, allow them to become your energy drink and let them fuel you towards action. Where Rosa Parks said, “NO, I will not move,” You say “YES, I WILL MOVE TOWARDS ACTION, TOWARDS A POSITIVE CHANGE, TOWARDS A SOLUTION." All it takes is one simple step to change the world. Rosa Parks did it and so can we.

Action Steps

  • Each morning when you wake up say, “Today I will take one positive action and no action is too small.”
  • Do one thing for yourself each day that makes you feel ALIVE. This will fuel you.
  • Do one thing for someone else that makes them come ALIVE. This will fuel them.
  • Remember, no action and no change is too small.
