What should we do in our life?

Recently, I still continue watching the series “Healing Hands 3”, as usual the emotion will be up and down following the story as the series is about Doctors’ life and how they handle their emotions and thought towards patient attitude towards life when they are in Emergency Room.

Therefore, these have easily triggered a lot of questions regarding life in my mind. What is our life all about? What should we do in our life to make it worth while? To most of us, perhaps life can be as simple as, go to school, get good grade, get a good job, got a girl friend or boy friend, and get marry. And then, create a family, have children, and the cycle go on and on…

On recent series, there is a girl name Betsy, her father has the perfect image in her. And this has guided her choice to choose to be a doctor someday, just likes her father. Of course, with this kind of spirit, she has successfully become a doctor. But, one day, she found out that, the perfect image about her father is not real. She become very disappointed and sad. Then, she started to give up her career as a doctor.

This has guide me to think that, perhaps what we should do in our life is to leave some positive spirit for people after us to follow so that the world can be a little happier and with more hope. People survive with hopes… like the patience in the hospital.

Perhaps a simple story or act can provide hopes and happiness to ourselves and also leave so references to our future generation. A simple story or spirit could be how we have failed sometimes, and how we have reorganized ourselves and fight back. Just like what Ralph Emerson have said, “Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up everytime we fail”.

Sometimes, when I felt lost, I’ll be searching for those powerful spirits that have provided by the great person before us. Perhaps the most powerful and meaningful moment of our life will the great legacy for our future generation.

  • Wow... what a profound blog. Sometimes I feel the same way: What have we done in our lives to make it worthwhile? We do things that are expected of us, but is that what we really believe in and feel happy doing? (ie career, life, relationships). Let's hope we all find something that we truly love to do. And even if it takes us a long time to find it, we should still treasure the journey along the way. :) Don't lose hope!
