Is Capitalism Failing?

These days I somehow feel that Capitalism is failing due to more and more environmental issues that are affecting our lives. For example, there are more plastic product that are contaminate our environment; there are more and more toxic waste not handle properly to cut cost; our food are no longer grown like it used to be and the food are manufacture instead.

What are going wrong here? I wonder. Could it be Capitalism will only be working under strong fundamental values that enhance our life (not material wise)? What I see now is our good values have been fading due to the concentration on “Profit” that is a must for Capitalism. People without strong values seems to do whatever it takes to gain profit and ignore our environment in order to be survive in the competitive global environment.

If Capitalism only works under strong fundamentals values that enhance us, how come they are not cultivate in our school? What we heard is only this “Get good grade, and get a good job’? And some more this is no longer working now. We are getting more and more knowledge, but we are losing more and more common sense.

How can we cultivate new enhancing values? Perhaps the school system needs to be change. However, before the system can be change, we need to personally seek for the wisdom from the past and upgrade ourselves and pass the good values along. Perhaps self-improvement is a good start. What do you think?
